Who is holy but God?
Can any one of us be holy?
Can a group of people declare themselves holy?
These are the questions at the heart of the song, “HOLY.”

HOLY
A, G, F
O my
My God
How long until the time has come
O my
My Lord
How long
Until renewal of this world
F, G, A
Holy, holy, holy is our Lord
Holy, holy, holy is our Lord
I cry
O Lord
To You
You are salvation to us all
Revive
Your bride
Your church
Deliver from the ruler of this world
F, G, A
Holy, holy, holy is our Lord
Holy, holy, holy is our Lord
The song is about reflection—reflection within ourselves on the things that are good, which come from the Creator who made everything good, and the things that are evil, planted by the enemy ever since the days of the garden.
It is about realizing how much judgment we place on ourselves and on others, and how this desire to judge continues to separate us from God and from one another.
But are we holy?
Are we righteous?
Are we good enough to be judges?
The Lord said, “Do not judge, and you will not be judged.” Yet the world we live in constantly pushes us to judge—to judge ourselves, to judge our neighbors, to judge entire groups of people. Jesus calls us away from this endless cycle and toward His mercy, by saying “I want mercy, not sacrifice.”
He wants to save us from judgment and justify us in His holiness, because He alone is holy, and His grace is greater than our failures.
Musically, I wanted “HOLY” to reflect the glory of God displayed in the real world—not the concrete jungles many of us have grown accustomed to, but the beauty of creation itself, and what remains of it.
Heavy guitars roll like thunder across the mountains. The synthesizer spans the full spectrum—from the lightning strike itself to the shockwave that follows. The bass guitar echoes the movement of the earth.
I believe creation has suffered greatly because of human greed. The earth groans beneath our feet. The forests, the rivers, and the mountains long to be renewed. “HOLY” is my prayer that the Lord would restore what has been broken and revive His Church—not an institution, but the living body of Christ, and I pray this time is near.
As with my previous releases, “HOLY” was written, recorded, produced, mixed, and mastered here at my little cabin in the woods, away from civilization.
From my home to yours, I offer “HOLY” for the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ, who revealed Himself to the world about two thousand years ago.
May His name be hallowed on earth as it is in heaven.
Thank you, Jesus.
May these songs bear much good fruit.
